VARIETY, CLONE : Pinot Noir, 80% Clone 115, 20% Clone 777

VINEYARD: Mariah Vineyards is under the Mendocino ridge sub-AVA, one of the most exclusive cool climate AVAs in California. Mariah Vineyards, a magical and magnificent mountaintop island, resides about 5 miles from the pacific coast, 2600 feet above the Pacific Ocean and rests above the fog line. The property is conducted following regenerative and organic methods and is completely dry farmed.

WINEMAKING: Oh, 2020, What a year... second vintage for ENA, and we got married!

On September 10th, 2020 we called the pick! We hand sorted the bunches and decided to leave 35% whole clusters. After a couple of days, fermentation started by itself with indigenous yeast and took around ten days to complete. After about 3 weeks on skins, we drained the tank and filled the neutral oak barrels to go ahead with malolactic fermentation. The wine aged with minimal SO2 additions and without any movement for almost 10 months. We bottled ENA Pinot Noir 2020 July 26th, 2021.

TASTING NOTES:

A brilliant and delicate ruby color surrounded by garnet hues.

The nose starts frank, delicate and involving. Plenty of wild strawberries, cherries and blackberries notes develop into complex and addicting savory characters of lavender, orange peel and sage and ends with perpetual forest floor notes. A direct travel through the wilderness of Mendocino Ridge, after a rainy day!

The palate starts ample, and multidimensional! A focused, vibrant, and comforting feeling becomes the main plot of the mouthfeel, highlighted by smooth and silky tannins. After few sips, ENA Pinot Noir 2020 remains in your palate with persistent juicy notes of wild berries and cherries. The liveliness and opulence of this wine are uplifting.

PRESS: We are proud to announce that our ENA Pinot Noir 2020- Mariah Vineyard - Mendocino Ridge has been awarded with the TOP WINE – SLOW WINE PRIZE.
